First of all, I’d like to thank Volunia for its openness and willingness to involve its users and for the great opportunity of publish this brief post.

I’ve been a Power User since the first days and I’m writing here to announce an open source project that from now on will belong to this community: VoluniApp v 2.0.

Not all of you may remember the first beta-release of VoluniApp, so I will briefly summarize what is about:

VoluniApp is an open source plugin whose aim is to improve users experience allowing them to bring Volunia everywhere around the web. With VoluniApp you can have full access to the chat, you can see who is online and use the Reach! feature on every website.

There are a lot of strong motivations behind this open source project and I’d like to report here at least two of them:

• VoluniApp rise from the interest in the “meet” features of Volunia and from the willing of use them during the daily web experience, outside a single domain, with plain URL;
• Volunia and all the people who are involved in the project have introduced a lot of great innovations in social-web. The success will likely depend also from a solid community, able to exploit starting features and above all suggest new ideas! Here I think that open source will come into play and maybe it will be the right way for the future;

I’d like to conclude with a further thank to the team that during these days is going to discuss the possibility to use VoluniApp as a starting point for future releases of the official plugin. I think this is a hopeful message: they want to give more space to creativity and innovation promoted by the community.

I hope that in a nearby future a lot of open-source projects based on Volunia will grow.
